Hello, I am Jayne Brown and I hold a bachelors degree from Central Michigan University in Industrial Technology with a minor in Art and concentration in Drafting & Design.  I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education & Industrial Education from Central Michigan University.  I hold a certificate from Michigan State University in Instructional Technology and most recently, I earned a Masters degree from Wayne State University in Media & Library Information Science (MLIS).

I continue to educate myself in both art and technology education.  This summer I attended AP Art History training at Columbia College in Chicago and am enrolled in several workshops through the Michigan Art Educator's Association Conference to be held on Mackinaw Island.  I believe in life long learning and promote that in all the subjects I teach at Owosso High School.

I worked in the field of Manufacturing Engineering for six years and also in free lance illustration for six years, owning my own business.  During this time I worked for Woodards Company and for several businesses out of the local area.

I also have taught college design courses, in the Department of Interior Design.  In addition to this, I have several years of secondary art education experience prior to joining the Owosso Public School System.

Since joining Owosso Schools, I have taught elementary technology at Central, Washington and Bryant Schools.  Most recently, for the past five years, I have been part of the staff at Owosso High School, teaching both art and technology.

I have vast experience in both fields of art and technology, working in the field of design for decades.  I bring to my teaching the experience of working for Central Michigan Univeristy, as a student, in the field of Civil Engineering.  I also have experience in Design Engineering with General Motors, Buick Division, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering at Universal Electric, Instructor of Design at Baker College of Owosso, and secondary Art Education Instructor at Morrice High School.

I am a graduate of Owosso High School, where I was very involved in Student Government Council, the editor of the yearbook, editor of the newspaper, a cheerleader for four years, and involved in Homecoming festivities.

I hold degrees and various certificates from:  Central Michigan University,  Michigan State University,  Wayne State University, Baker College of Owosso, Oakland University, Columbia College and even General Motors Institute!  I have a passion for education and have had for many, many years.  I believe everyone should continually better themselves and the world around them.

I live in Owosso with my husband, two sons and two Labrador Retrievers.  We enjoy snowboarding/skiing, boating, kayaking, biking and walking or running.  We also enjoy all kinds of sports and being in the outdoors, especially in northern Michigan.

I enjoy working for Owosso Public Schools, I taught secondary art outside of Owosso for several years, and then joined the Owosso School System to teach elementary technology, which I did for several years at Central and Washington Elementary.  I moved to Owosso High School about five years ago and returned to Art while continuing to teach technology.  I teach Informational Graphics I & II, Art I and Special Education Art.
