AP Chemistry - MC Exam and work time for FR exam tomorrow.

Honors Chemistry - Quest corrections and then began 8.1 balancing chemical reactions.

Chemistry - Practice structural formulas problems and then did a graded set of three.  This can be retaken as many times as needed for the student to feel satisfied with their performance.

Monday Agenda, 11-14-17  

AP Chemistry - Day 2 of the hand warmer lab.  Notebooks due by Friday.  MC exam will be 2nd hour tomorrow, with the FR being 1st hour on Wednesday.

Honors Chemistry - Go over the practice set from Friday.  Assigned review problems 26,30,33,34 on p. 432 and 58, 61 on p. 166.  Quest is tomorrow.

Chemistry - Begin Chap 15.  Go over student understanding of ions and ionic bonding.  Read and take notes over 15.1.  We will go over tomorrow.


Friday Agenda, 11-10-17  

AP Chemistry - Day 1 of the hand warmer lab.  

Honors Chemistry - Wrap up writing the name/formulas of ionic compounds.  Quest will be Tuesday.

Chemistry - Final day of assessing the poster projects.


Thursday Agenda, 11-9-17  

AP Chemistry - Finish up 19.7 and look at 8.8 over bond enthalpies.  Practice MC problem set as well.  Lab will be tomorrow and Monday.  MC exam will be Tuesday, 2nd hour and FR will be Wednesday, 1st hour.  

Honors Chemistry - Begin writing the names of binary ionic compounds.  Work towards ternary compounds if time, otherwise, we will begin this tomorrow.  Chap 15/6 quest will be Tuesday.  

Chemistry - Begin assessing the posters.  We will wrap up tomorrow.  Students will receive feedback regarding what they need to fix and will then have the opportunity to have it re-assessed.

AP Chemistry - Finish 19.6 lecture and assigned odds #53-75, skip 69.  We will go over these on Wednesday.  Read through 19.7 and work on my notes for Wednesday as well.  

Honors Chemistry - Continue balancing ionic compounds practice problems.  We will have a short graded set on Wednesday.

AP Chemistry - Wrap up 19.3 lecture from yesterday and address questions as needed.  Go over 39 and 41 as a class.  Begin 19.4 calculating the change in entropy quantitatively.

Honors Chemistry - Begin the ionic bonding unit with a discussion of how ions form.  See what students know and what they can put together to outline how positive and negative ions form.

Friday Agenda, 10-20-17  

AP Chemistry - Started with Friday Feedback. Began 5.1 and .2 lecture over thermochemistry introductions.  Assigned odds #23-29.  

Honors Chemistry - Friday Feedback to begin.  Classes decided the required parts and pieces for the periodic table projects.  Each hours requirements will be posted in the individual google classrooms.  Posters will be assessed one week from Monday.  Students will have 4 days in class to work on the projects.

Chemistry - Friday Feedback to begin.  Passed out the Chap 13 review sheets.  The review and the key is posted on the 4th hour google classroom.  Chap 13 test will be Tuesday.


Thursday Agenda, 10-19-17  

AP Chemistry - FR part of the exam was 1st hour.  We did MC exam corrections 2nd hour.  Tomorrow we will begin Chap 5.1 and .2.  

Honors Chemistry - Finished up periodic trends information, which is posted in the classroom.  Gave time for students to look up simulations, animations, etc pertaining to periodic trends and asked that they post links in my classroom under comments of the Interactive Periodic Table link I posted earlier.  

Chemistry - Began Chap 13 review looking at electron configurations again.  Chap 13 quest will likely be on Tuesday.  


Wednesday Agenda, 10-18-17  

AP Chemistry - MC exam with work time afterwards.  FR exam will be tomorrow and Chap 20 evens are due.

Honors Chemistry - Continue discussing periodic trends as time allows.

Chemistry - Practice problem set for 13.3, both wave equation calculations and wave relationships.  Chap 13 review will be tomorrow and the Chap 13 test will be on Friday.

AP Chemistry - Finish up 20.9 electrolysis lecture and assigned odds #87-91.  Workday will be tomorrow and Chap 20 exam will be Wednesday.

Honors Chemistry - 14.2 info over periodic trends looking at the what it does as well as the WHY.  The why is critical.  Continue on your own and we will discuss tomorrow.

Chemistry - Review significant figure rules and begin applying to the wave equation.  The Chap 13 quest will be Thursday or Friday.

AP Chemistry - Wrap up 20.6 lecture over the Nernst Equation and its applications.  Lab on Monday.

Honors Chemistry - We will hold off on sig figs until Monday with the shortened hours and continue practice problems.

AP Chemistry - Get into 20.5 lecture over Gibbs Free Energy and 20.6 over EMF in Nonstandard Conditions focusing on the Sample Problems and Practice Problems in each section.  Electrochem lab will be on Monday.

Honors Chemistry - Continue wave equation practice problems and review algebraic manipulation of formulas.  Begin significant figures tomorrow.

AP Chemistry - Begin the day going over the Electrochemical Cell Lab.  Work time during 1st hour.  Go over the odds from yesterday after questions.

Honors Chemistry - Continue the wave equation info and begin calculations.  Scientific notation review as well.

Chemistry - Continue practicing noble gas electron configurations.  Graded set tomorrow if possible.  


Tuesday Agenda, 10-3-17  

AP Chemistry - Go over the odds from yesterday.  Continue 20.4 lecture.  Assigned odds #27-39.  Will have 20 min to wrap these up tomorrow.

Honors Chemistry - Read and take notes over the first 3 pages of 13.3 focusing on the wave equation.  Go over as a class looking at wavelength, speed of light, amplitude, and frequency.

AP Chemistry - Review voltaic cells and begin to do calculations using the half reaction reduction potentials.  Assigned 23 and 25 for 20.3.  Begin 20.4 lecture.

AP Chemistry - Work time for 17 and 21 along with the practice redox problems.  We will go over each 2nd hour. 

Honors Chemistry - Begin noble gas electron configuration shortcut.

Chemistry - Review the Aufbau diagram and continue practicing problems.


Wednesday Agenda, 9-27-17  

AP Chemistry - Finish up Sample 20.3 and assigned the 2 practice problems associated with it.  Passed out a practice set of redox balancing problems and assigned odds #17 and 21.  

Honors Chemistry - Go over a few practice problems for electron configurations and assigned a 3 problem graded set.  This can be retaken if a student is not satisfied with their score.

Chemistry - Continue practice problems for electron configurations.  We will try a graded set tomorrow or Friday.

Wednesday Agenda, 9-13-17  

AP Chemistry - Finished up 4.5 and 4.6 lecture and went over Sample problems 16 and 17 as a class.  Assigned odds #67-75, 81-87 for 4.4-4.6 and the chap 4 evens #22,24,40,52,68,82. The Chap 3 and 4 unit exam will be on Monday for MC and Tuesday for FR.  

Honors Chemistry - Finished up from yesterday and assigned the chap 5 review questions #39-49, 53.  We will go over them tomorrow and review as needed for the Chap 5 quest on Friday.

Tuesday Agenda, 9-12-17  

AP Chemistry - Finished up 4.4 lecture and assigned odds, which we went over as a class.  Began 4.5 lecture.  Assigned them to finish reading and taking notes over the rest of 4.5 and 4.6 for tomorrow.  Lab notebooks are due tomorrow.

Honors Chemistry - As a class, we went over the characteristics of each of the colored groups from yesterday that makes them unique from the others.

Chemistry - Same as Honors.


Monday Agenda, 9-11-17  

AP Chemistry - Data analysis for the lab and work time for the notebook.  Moved into 4.4 lecture during 2nd hour.

Honors Chemistry - Colored in the periodic tables I gave them according to metals, nonmetals, metalloids, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition and inner transition metals, other metals, halogens, and noble gases.

Friday Agenda, 9-8-17  

AP Chemistry - Formula of a hydrate lab.

Honors Chemistry - Wrap up info about the atomic info and passed out a short quiz over the atomic info chart for them to fill in.  Assigned the classes to read and take notes over the differences between Mendeleev and Moseley's tables and look for advantages and disadvantages of each.

AP Chemistry - Work time for lab notebook and 4.3 odds.  Begin reading 4.4 over redox reactions if time.

AP Chemistry - Went over the odds from yesterday as a class.  We did a practice MC set from chapters 3 and 4 and went over in class.  The stoichiometry lab will be Thursday and I would like to have the MC portion of the exam for stoichiometry on Friday, with the free response portion on Monday.

Chemistry - Start coloring the periodic table based on the groups, metals/nonmetals, etc.  We will have class time tomorrow to finish up. Chap 5 quest will be Thursday or Friday.
